When a tooth cannot be saved, or a baby tooth needs to come out, we take it out gently. If needed, we can use laughing gas or sedation to help your child feel calm. We explain each step before we start.

How we treat an emergency

When you come in, we look at the tooth and ask you what happened. Then we talk with you about the best next step. For a toothache, we check for decay or an infection. For a broken tooth, we see if it can be fixed or needs to come out. We explain it all in plain words before we start.

A dental emergency can be scary for a child. We go slow, talk in calm words, and show your child what we are doing. If needed, we can use laughing gas or sedation to help them feel safe. We want your child to feel cared for, not afraid.

If your child has trouble breathing or swallowing, or major swelling, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room right away. For other needs, call us during office hours and we will help.
